Scholarships at Matsudo International School

  • Each scholarship programme has uniquely different conditions.
  • You may only apply for 1 scholarship at a time. Promotions and discounts do not apply to scholarships, unless otherwise stated.
  • All students must meet requirements for the Student Visa Course in addition to the requirements of the respective scholarship programme. Please refer to the Student Visa Course page for more information.
  • Scholarship students are expected to have good attitude and work ethics, be on their best conduct, and respect prevalent cultures, customs and values in Japan.

AJP Scholarship

The Accelerated Japanese Programme is a scholarship from provided by JLEAFS (The Association for Japanese Language Education and Foreigner Support in Japan) to enable students who are passionate about Japan to achieve their dreams.

Scholarship details: Up to JPY 122,000 towards their first year school fees at Matsudo International School.

Contract Term: At least 1 year of study at Matsudo International School

Eligibility Criteria:

■ Eligible countries:

USA, Canada, England, EU countries, United Kingdoms, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia.

■ Criteria 1: GPA / WAM / Overall Grade:

Final average score acquired must be at least 75% of max score. 
If the school’s max GPA is 4, 5 or 7, you must have 3, 3.75 or 5.25 respectively.

If your high school or university uses other assessment scales, please contact us with a scan of your documents.

■  Criteria 2: JLPT Requirement:

Must have achieved the demonstrable equivalent of JLPT N4 in one of the following methods:

A. Completed the 2nd volume of the following textbooks at a university, high school or Japanese language center:

Japanese for Busy People / Minna no Nihongo / GENKI 

B. Achieved the equivalent of JLPT N4 level in any of the following tests:

JLPT / BJT / NAT / JTEST / TOPJ

Work and Study Programme:
Food and Beverage

 Japan is famous for its delicious cuisine and high quality service, known as OMOTENASHI. Study Japanese and work part time with experienced people in the F&B industry, to gain invaluable experience and professional insights.

Our sponsors operate several prestigious restaurants throughout the Tokyo Metropolitan Area, including Nihonbashi, Odaiba, Shibuya and the National Diet Building of Japan (Parliament Building).

Scholarship is awarded on top of monthly part time job wages, with the starting part-time work wages beginning JPY 1000-1100 per hour (front of house).

Full-time employment with Work Visa in Japan awarded to individuals with excellent performance at the end of programme.

Contract Term:
– 2 years of study at MIS
– 3 years of full time employment (optional)

Scholarship Value
– Up to JPY 400,000 total over 2 years, awarded at end of every 6-month evaluation period
– Additional JPY 150,000 upon successful employment at sponsor’s company (optional)
– No Repayment required

Work Requirement
– Work part time at location designated by sponsor for at least 600 hours per 6 month evaluation period

Assessment Criteria
– Demonstrable Japanese level of at least JLPT N5 or equivalent
– Certificate/Diploma/Degree in F&B, Culinary, Hospitality&Tourism or Business preferred
– Genuine interest in Japan’s F&B industry

Caregiving Programme

Japan is an aging society, and is constantly looking to hire caregiving staff to bring smiles to elderly folks’ lives.

This long term scholarship is sponsored by various caregiving hospice and hospital groups, providing full time employment and long term visa upon successful completion of the programme.

Upon successful completion of this programme, you will gain the following benefits:

1. Long Term Visa (Caregiving) – ability to stay and live in Japan as long as you work in the caregiving industry. Family members can also be brought over as dependants.

2. Experience, knowledge and skills in gerontology and elderly care techniques and technology from Japan

3. Steady, highly subsidised career with bonus rewards from the Prefectural Government in Japan.

– 5 years of full time employment

Assessment Criteria

– Age 18 – 25
– Demonstrable Japanese level of at least JLPT N4 or equivalent, with certification
– Bright, cheerful personality

Work Requirement

– Depending on scholarship sponsor, you may be requested to work at sponsor’s hospice part time during study phase.

In-House Scholarship #1

JASSO University Scholarship

The Japanese Student Services Organization provides a scholarship for students who wish to attend university in Japan.

Entitlement: JPY 30,000 per month for 12 months, for the first year in university.

Conditions:
1. 1 person per intake
2. 100% attendance
3. Exemplary performance in studies, conduct and attitude

Entry:
Student will be nominated 1 year into his/her studies at Matsudo International School

In-house Scholarship Awards

Matsudo International School also offers in-house scholarship awards as an incentive for putting in effort into their studies and attendance.

Awards include:

4. JLPT N3 / N2 / N1 Awards

Entry:
Awards 1, 2 and 3 are assessed at the end of every semester.
JLPT Awards are assessed after the exam results are released.
