Local Japanese youths and foreign students often work part-time, in order to earn a bit of extra pocket money for travel and leisure.

According to the Law of Japan, students on a Student Visa may work up to:
– 8 hours a day, 28 hours a week during school terms
– 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week during Spring / Summer / Winter holidays

The estimated average wage for part-time work is as follows:
Day-shift: JPY 950 per hour
Night-shift: JPY 1150 per hour

Example of income from Part-Time Work:
If you work 20 hours a week, 40 weeks year in a day shift job, you can earn:
20 hours x 40 weeks x JPY 950 per hour = JPY 760,000

Students who meet the following criteria will also have the special opportunity to work at resorts all over Japan over the school holidays (Spring/Summer/Winter):

• Above 90% attendance
• Exhibited good attitude in studies, good general conduct and good grades
